What is contemplative psychology? A mindfulness based approach to therapy that blends aspects of traditional psychology with an eastern philosophy of mind. Some Key assumptions: 1) At our core, we are healthy and inherently wise. Herein lies our potential for personal growth, and living fulfilled lives. 2) Awareness of our experience in the present moment leads to genuine self-acceptance and is the doorway to authentic change. 3) In addition to changing the content of thoughts, we can also change our relationship to thoughts. While Contemplative Psychology has roots in Buddhist teachings, it is secular and does not require participation in any religion.
